At NGFCU, we believe that the ability to digitally connect to each other, our communities, and resources helps our communities thrive socially and financially. That's why we're sharing an important announcement that puts affordable internet access within reach.
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is making internet access available to families that are financially struggling as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Emergency Broadband Benefit program will enable households to digitally connect to jobs, healthcare services, education, and much more.
The program will provide eligible households with special discounts:
- Up to $50 per month towards broadband service (up to $75 per month for households on qualifying Tribal lands)
- A one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet from participating providers if household contributes more than $10 and less than $50 toward the purchase price
The program will end once funds are exhausted, or six months after the Department of Health and Human Services declares an end to the pandemic, whichever comes first.
For eligibility requirements and details on how to apply, please visit the FCC's website.
